Until the year 2005 EICOS received its primary funding from the 'Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft' and, since its foundation, from the 'Gottlieb Daimler und Karl Benz Stiftung'. The EICOS Programme 2006 and 2007 is mainly funded by the KLAUS TSCHIRA Stiftung gGmbH, Heidelberg (KTS).

The Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry offers the infrastructure and the manpower necessary to guarantee a successful Hands-on Laboratory, and the host institutes cover their expenses during the Extended Laboratory Assignments.

The EICOS Fellowship provides financial support for travelling, housing, and food, both during the Hands-on Laboratory and during the Extended Laboratory Assignment.
